2019 Anvil by Forgeron Syrah
This cool-climate French Syrah offers nuances of dark fruit, savory depth, and cocoa. The pallet is rich and dark with juicy red fruits and a lively, long finish. This wine is the epitome of balance, with nicely integrate fruit, oak and alcohol. Structured to last, this wine will cellar well into to the 2030’s.
Tasting notes
A deep inky purple in color with aromatics of woodland blackberry, black pepper, subtle Mexican vanilla, and freshly cut flowers. As you sip you find restrained, yet dense, rich and complex flavor profiles of dark black fruits, cappuccino, and bittersweet chocolate. This long on the palate classic Syrah finishes with medium length and moderate supple tannins. As with previous vintages of our Anvil by Forgeron Syrah from the Boushey Vineyard, this wine is built to last.

The 2019 Syrah ANVIL Boushey Vineyard is all Syrah and spent 17 months in one-third new French oak. Its deep purple hue is followed by a Northern Rhône-like bouquet of ripe black cherries, blackberries, smoked game, iron, and peppery herbs. It's another medium to full-bodied, balanced, nicely textured Syrah from this estate that has tons of class. It's terrific today with a decant and should easily evolve for 10-15 years in cold cellars.
92 points, James Suckling
This is dark-fruited and savory with grilled herbs, cured meat and ground pepper. Full-bodied with velvety tannins and a chalky mouth-feel. Plush fruit character and vivid acidity. Rich and flavorful with hints of blue fruit and spices at the end. Drink or hold.
