2021 Forgeron Cellars Viognier
Our Viognier is farmed at the beautiful Francisca’s Vineyard site on the South side at the foothills of the Blue Mountains. We have enjoyed this vineyard every year and love the expression it imparts to the Viognier varietal. The 2021 vintage fruit purity and character radiates in the glass. We had plenty of time to wait for the fruit to be just right before picking and processing at the winery and we could already tell this vintage was special; after fermentation we really knew we had something exquisite to share with everyone.
Tasting notes
Delicate notes of fresh lilac, heady jasmine, lychee, and candied pineapple waft in the glass. As you sip you are greeted with pleasant hints of underripe orange and lively citrus flavors that complement the full and rich mid-palate experience. The finish is equally delightful with a long-lasting interlude full of fresh and lingering flavors of Asian pear, tropical citrus, and honeysuckle

This is a beautiful example of Viognier made with fruit grown at nearly 1,000 feet above sea level in the foothills of the Blue Mountains. The wine's aromas of lemon and butter will trick your brain into thinking a lemon tart is on the way. There's also a bit of basil and beeswax in the background. The creamy plate backs flavors of lemon peel, Bosc pear, bright-red raspberries and graham cracker dust. Elevated acidity provides balance to this fruit fest.

Brought up in a mix of neutral barrels and tank, the 2021 Viognier Francisca's Vineyard offers a light gold hue as well as a ripe, juicy, yet classic Viognier style in its orange blossom, honeyed peach, and minty herb-like aromas and flavors. It's nicely textured, balanced, has terrific purity, and a great finish. It's geared for the dinner table and best drunk over the coming year or so.
