2020 Forgeron Cellars Grenache
From the beautiful Boushey Vineyard this is our third vintage of 100% Grenache wine. The Boushey Vineyard has been one of our favorite sites to grow with over the last two decades. Grenache is one of those varietals is exceptional when shown by itself, displaying a full and fresh profile. We have enjoyed the brightness this wine brings to our line-up. Dick Boushey has helped make an extraordinary array of varietals that fit every need.
Tasting notes
A light hue alternating somewhere between garnet and amethyst radiates from the glass. The nose exhibits red plum, red raspberry, nightshade, a hint of white chocolate mousse, and a persistent blast of freshly ground white pepper that also grips the flavors throughout. More red fruits and a piquancy of Twizzlers dipped in Ramazzotti Amaro gracefully dance in the mouth before ending in a beautifully-minimal, minutely-fine finish. It possesses a softly-styled expression that leans into the grace of Grenache rather than the power. A Rhône-driven beauty that will age nicely over the next 5-8 years.

VINTAGE NOTES
The 2020 vintage started as most years do and harvest was anticipated to be a bit earlier than the previous year. Around July we saw temperatures begin to change, which caused ripening process to slow and result in later picking dates, and we ended up harvesting just a few days apart on most varietals from the previous year. We
did experience smoke through the season, but with precautions taken at the winery
(bucket ferments) were able to avoid its impact entirely.
