2021 Forgeron Cellars Barbera Barrel Select
Our Sagemoor Vineyard Barbera is always exciting to watch as it progresses from a tiny berry into this quarter size berry bursting with vibrant flavor. We are able to grasp the freshness and acidity of this grape to carry it through to the glass. Every year it is a phenomenal varietal to bring into the winery, and every year we are delighted to bring the finished wine to you.
Tasting notes
Fresh and alive with flavors of cherry and plum. A medium-bodied wine with bright acidity and lingering finish tipping its hat to the varietal’s Italian heritage. Our Barbera enjoys being paired with food or friends and is always eager to please. It brings spring flowers, herbs and baking spices wherever it goes.

VINTAGE NOTES
In 2021 we had a bit of an odd start. We experienced a push and pull with the weather conditions throughout the growing season. The growing season started off with much warmer temperatures in the spring that led us to expect an early harvest, but temperatures lowered to a more optimal level during the summer months. With the proper temperatures continuing through to the end of summer we were able to wait for the most ideal moment to harvest the fruit. The optimal harvest conditions allowed us to develop comprehensive varietal character in the finished wines.
